For both SNS Spear and Greatsword Spear, the foundation of my build revolves around the Five-Piece Gilded Set. Though I’ve experimented with several variations (including Shock Commander and DPS-focused sets), the Gilded Set stands out as the most reliable, especially for endurance-based brawler builds. 3. Collision Resistance: This is key for countering CC-heavy builds, such as those from dagger users. My setup provides over 1400 collision resistance, making it significantly more difficult for enemies to stun-lock you or land powerful CC attacks.
4. Skill Damage Resistance: As a Greatsword Spear user, you’ll benefit from 560 skill damage resistance. This stat reduces incoming skill-based damage, making you much harder to kill, especially in PvP scenarios. 5. While it’s tempting to focus purely on damage output, the Gilded Set ensures that you can tank incoming attacks while dishing out enough damage to be effective in PvP and PvE.
SNS Spear Build: Comparing Shock vs. Gilded
I initially ran the Shock Commander set with SNS Spear, but the lack of magic defense and endurance left me feeling too vulnerable against mages, who can melt you even with Q-blocks if you’re not careful.
Gilded Over Shock for Large Scale PvP
When comparing Gilded vs. Shock for SNS Spear, the Gilded Set is the clear winner for large-scale PvP. Here’s why:
· More Endurance: Shock Commander’s reliance on melee endurance doesn’t cut it in larger battles. Magic endurance is essential for surviving against ranged and magical attacks, which make up a significant portion of large-scale PvP.
· Collision Resistance: Gilded’s increased collision resistance is a game-changer. With a hefty CC resistance bonus, you’re much more resilient against melee and ranged CC, which are prevalent in most large-scale encounters.
· Additional Magic Defense: One of the biggest advantages of Gilded is the additional magic defense, which is especially useful against magical classes that can bypass your regular defenses.
· Block Chance: While the Shock Commander set boosts block chance (especially when paired with counter barrier), Gilded gives you better overall survivability in large battles by ensuring you're not easily overwhelmed by magic or CC.

Greatsword Spear Build: Why Endurance and Defense Matter More Than Damage
For the Greatsword Spear, you’ll notice the need to balance between damage output and survivability. After extensive testing, I found that you don’t need the full DPS-heavy Shock Commander or Field General builds for Greatsword Spear. Instead, you should focus on endurance and resistance, which make you more of a tank in PvP while still maintaining solid burst potential.
Key Build Highlights for Greatsword Spear
1. Endurance Setup: With Gilded, my Greatsword Spear build gives me around 16,700 endurance, which includes magic endurance. This allows me to absorb a ton of damage from both melee and ranged/magic sources, while still being able to counterattack effectively.
2. Skill Damage Resistance: As mentioned earlier, 560 skill damage resistance is a game-changer, making you far less vulnerable to incoming abilities from enemy players. This resistance boosts your ability to tank while dealing solid damage.
3. Melee Endurance vs. Magic Endurance: While I could go for pure melee endurance, the focus on magic endurance is vital for surviving against magic-heavy DPS classes, which have become more prevalent in large-scale PvP.
4. CC Resistance: My Greatsword Spear build gives me 1,400 collision resistance, ensuring I can survive even when enemies attempt to crowd control me. This is especially important against dagger and greatsword users who rely on quick burst damage.
5. While Gilded sacrifices some damage output (compared to DPS-focused sets like Shadow Harvester), the tradeoff is much better survivability, which makes you more effective in prolonged battles.
Equipment Choices: Optimization for Endurance and Survivability
1. Blessed Templar Cloak: For large-scale PvP, this cloak gives CC resistance and boosts endurance. It’s a must-have for surviving against magic users and getting the extra resistances you need.
2. Necklaces: For the Greatsword Spear build, I’m running an Icy Necklace, which offers decent crit as well as endurance. If you’re running into mana issues during large-scale PvP, consider swapping it out for Supreme Devotion, which gives a boost to crit and helps with mana regeneration.
3. Ring and Trinkets: You’ll want to prioritize rings and trinkets that boost your CC resistance, magic defense, and endurance. While Shock Commander gives you more block chance, Gilded helps you stack more resistance and overall tankiness.
Final Thoughts: The Gilded Build Reigns Supreme
When it comes to both SNS Spear and Greatsword Spear builds in Throne and Liberty, the Gilded Set is, without a doubt, the best option for those focusing on endurance, magic defense, and CC resistance. The Fortitude stat, combined with high collision resistance and skill damage resistance, makes it incredibly difficult to burst down. While Gilded sacrifices some raw DPS output, the trade-off is more than worth it, especially in large-scale PvP scenarios in TL Lucent.
